Al-Qaeda’s leader isolates “mastermind” of assassination attempt on Algerian President Bouteflika
Abdelmalek Droudkel alias Abu Musab Adelouadoud.

The national leader of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb Abdelmalek Droudkel alias Abu Musab Adelouadoud isolated the leader of “Death Brigade” Ali Mhira alias Abou Rouaha from the leadership of the most dangerous brigade in Batna province (east of Algiers), according to corroborating sources. The isolation of Abou Rouaha, the mastermind of an assassination attempt against Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika was decided on the basis of the “Death Brigade” failure to kill President Bouteflika on September 6th, 2007. He was appointed as the soldiers’ leaders in Oued Souf province (south-east of Algiers), said well-informed sources.

According to other sources, the decision to isolate the 30-year-old man was taken after he had easily been trapped by security forces. He was misled by Batna’s local intelligence few days after the assassination attempt but he escaped in the last minute.

The arrest of this dangerous element, accused of being the mastermind of the assassination attempt against the president is likely to reveal the reality of the plan, how the decision was made and who was behind it.

Security forces are collecting information as much as possible from repentant and arrested terrorists while it is said some terror elements witness dissidence over their national commanders who they do not recognise them compared to their absolute allegiance to some local commanders.
